My child

By Connie Robillard

I dreamed you here.
From inside imperfect space

I dreamed you here

I pictured you with dandelion
filled hands.

Chasing butterflies
Beneath a cloudless sky

I handed you the ocean in a jar
you held it 'til you saw the other side

A jar of water can't become the sea
Nights turn dark in spite of well meant
dreams

Bittersweet you carried in your heart.
All my efforts could not set you free.

I take no credit for who you have become.
So proud to see a part of you in me.

This world, is a far richer place
because ….

you came.

I only dreamed you here….
