Body / Mind / Spirit
When we separate "body", "mind", and "spirit", we're tripping across the liability of Western thinking, imagining that they're distinct... as opposed to intertwined.
Jan Carlsson-Bull suggests the following exercise to begin to experience, at a sensory-motor level, this sense of body/mind/spirit being intertwined:
- If you had to free associate body/mind/spirit as music, what would the music be?
-
As a dance, what would the dance look like?
-
As an image, how would the image be manifest?
- As a film, what would that film be?
-
As a smell, what would it be?
-
How would it make you feel?
-
How would you be transformed by any of these?
